Forest Lodge FAQ's
1. When will the forest lodges be completed and ready for our holiday?
Answer: The first forest lodges will be fully available from the third week in May 2015.
2. Are the new forest lodges available all year?
Answer: Yes the lodges can be booked for 3 night weekends, 4 night mid week breaks or 7 night stays through the year.
3. Are the lodges in the same place as the campsite area?
Answer: The campsite is in the same location, however the forest lodges are set in a separate glade with their own space and outlook into the Burnbake landscape.
4. Are dogs or other pets allowed in the forest lodges?
Answer: Unfortunately not. The Burnbake site is located in a sensitive protected landscape and English Nature has decreed that no animals should be allowed within the lodge areas.
5. Are the forest lodges fully equipped?
Answer: Yes the lodges are fitted out to a high specification and include all kitchen equipment and table settings for 6 or 8 persons per lodge. A full list of contents is available in the section on lodge layouts.
6. Do we need to bring linen and towels?
Answer: Bed linen and duvets are supplied for the lodges and bath and hand towels will be provided for the number of guests booked on your holiday.
7. Do the lodges have wifi and television connections?
Answer: Yes, a cable system will supply each lodge with broadband and cable television connections to enable online communication and most terrestrial and freeview channels within each lodge.
8. Are high chairs and cots available?
Answer: Yes, highchairs and cots can be ordered with your booking. A small additional charge will be made but please remember to bring your own cot linen and blankets as we do not provide cot bedding.
9. Is the water in the lodges drinkable?
Answer: Yes, the lodges are supplied with local mains water which is partially softened but fully within drinkable guidelines.
10. Are barbeques available for use in the lodges?
Answer: Yes, each lodge is fitted with a special barbeque fitting on the external deck. Barbeque trays can be purchased from the campsite shop.
11. Will wood kindling and firelighters be supplied for our wood burning stove?
Answer: A ‘starter pack’ of these elements will be provided. Additional supplies will be purchasable from the site shop.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR STAY
12. What time can we get into our forest lodge on arrival at Burnbake?
Answer: The lodges are fully prepared for our guests and this normally takes until 4pm on the afternoon of your arrival day, however, it is worth making enquires at our reception after 2pm on the day.
13. What time do we need to vacate our lodge on the day of departure.
Answer: Lodges have to be vacated by 10am on your departure day and we thank you for your compliance to this request
14. What happens if we are going to arrive late?
Answer: Our reception is open until 6pm on each arrival day, but don’t worry, please telephone us if you are going to arrive after this time and we will make arrangements to meet you with your keys and show you to your accommodation.
15. Can I extend my stay if I wish to?
Answer: This may be possible on some occasions, however, we would need at least 48 hours notice in order to reallocate any available lodges. There would of course be an additional charge for the additional time.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE ON SITE?
16. Can we bring our own bikes to Burnbake?
Answer: Yes, there are some excellent cycle routes, many of which are off road. Please ensure you bring locks for your cycles so that they can be secured when not in use as we cannot be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur to your property.
17. Is bike hire available?
Answer: Yes, bike hire can be arranged for you in advance and the bikes would be secured at your forest lodge for your use on arrival. There is an extra charge for this service, please see your booking information sheet.
18. Do you have any children’s activities on site?
Answer: We do have a small children’s play area on site, however, the woodland and surrounding areas lend themselves to natural family adventures and there are two activity centres close by and some excellent beaches.
19. Are there any medical facilities on site?
Answer: We do have qualified first aiders amongst our staff and can offer help with minor ailments. A list of local medical practitioners and the emergency contact details are available at our reception or in your lodge information pack.
20. Can I purchase some basic groceries before arrival?
Answer: Yes, a starter pack of essentials is available as well as a more substantial grocery pack and a celebratory package. All of these items can be pre-booked with your lodge booking and would be available in your lodge upon arrival. Please see our website for full details of additional prepaid arrival packs and facilities including bike hire and other equipment.
21. What services will be available on site?
Answer: The forest lodges are fully equipped and self contained. There is a small shop on site which sells fresh products daily and a laundry and washing facilities are available. A temporary reception building will be available during 2015 for any advice and help with local guides and help with bookings for local attractions and activities.
22. Are there smoking areas within the campsite and forest lodge sites?
Answer: The forest lodges are strictly non smoking zones, however, smoking can be permitted in the grounds subject to caution, as this is protected woodland and heathland environment and care must be taken to ensure any cigarettes are fully extinguished on disposal.
23. Can I park my car next to my lodge?
Answer: No, there are dedicated car parking places on the site but you can load and unload your vehicle at the lodge upon arrival and departure. We aim to keep the forest lodge area as clear of traffic as possible for your family’s enjoyment.

24. Are there many things to do in the area around Burnbake?
Answer: Yes there are some great places to visit, first class beach areas and many activities. Our website has details of most attractions locally and you can make advanced bookings for activities through our on site reception or “online” with your booking.
